Founded in the 4<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;century, revised and updated in the&nbsp;11<sup>th<\/sup>.\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/travels\/asia\/georgia\/2025-04-01-mtskheta-uplistsikhe-gori\/2636.jpg\"><\/li>\n\n<li>The Small Church of St.&#8239;Nino in the monastery courtyard.\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/travels\/asia\/georgia\/2025-04-01-mtskheta-uplistsikhe-gori\/2643.jpg\"><\/li>\n\n<li>I wish it were like this everywhere.\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/travels\/asia\/georgia\/2025-04-01-mtskheta-uplistsikhe-gori\/2644.jpg\"><\/li>\n\n<li>The rock-hewn town <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Uplistsikhe\">Uplistsikhe<\/a> was founded 3,000 years ago and developed until the <span class=\"nobr\">13<sup>th<\/sup>-century<\/span> Mongol invasion with fire and sword.\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/travels\/asia\/georgia\/2025-04-01-mtskheta-uplistsikhe-gori\/2680.jpg\"><\/li>\n\n<li>The stone walls reliably protected from the wind, and the mild climate made it easy to warm the premises even in winter.\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/travels\/asia\/georgia\/2025-04-01-mtskheta-uplistsikhe-gori\/2775.jpg\"><\/li>\n\n<li>Architectural excesses in the <span class=\"nobr\">so-called<\/span> Queen Tamar Hall (which she may not have even visited).\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/travels\/asia\/georgia\/2025-04-01-mtskheta-uplistsikhe-gori\/2830.jpg\"><\/li>\n\n<li>Long before the Mongols, the first Christians readily killed and burned local pagans. The Uplistsuli Church was built much later, in the 11<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;century.\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/travels\/asia\/georgia\/2025-04-01-mtskheta-uplistsikhe-gori\/2816.jpg\"><\/li>\n\n<li>Meanwhile, Japanese quince fruits are used to make delicious jam, and they can also be added to tea for a&nbsp;fragrant sourness. \n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/travels\/asia\/georgia\/2025-04-01-mtskheta-uplistsikhe-gori\/2754.jpg\"><\/li>\n\n<li>The natural and structural transformation of sandstone in Uplistsikhe leaves room for the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Pareidolia\">pareidolia<\/a>. Free&nbsp;entry.\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/travels\/asia\/georgia\/2025-04-01-mtskheta-uplistsikhe-gori\/2898.jpg\"><\/li>\n\n<li>From the walls, another view of&nbsp;Gori opens up, with the bionic <a href=\"https:\/\/ayteknikyapi.com\/en\/projects\/completed\/gori-public-service-building\/\">Public Service Hall<\/a> in the center.
