One can see a&nbsp;piece of the Church of St.&#8239;Nicholas in Russian style on the right.\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/travels\/eastern-europe\/romania\/2023-06-01-old-town\/1375.jpg\"><\/li>\n\n<li>The back of the throne with the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Kingdom_of_Romania\">royal coat of arms<\/a> in the Church of St.&#8239;Nicholas. The Russian community was kicked out of here in 1992 for&nbsp;good.\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/travels\/eastern-europe\/romania\/2023-06-01-old-town\/1377.jpg\"><\/li>\n\n<li>Former Chamber of Commerce and Industry (National Library under the communists). Now there are offices and a&nbsp;restaurant.\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/travels\/eastern-europe\/romania\/2023-06-01-old-town\/1382.jpg\"><\/li>\n\n<li>Greek Stavropoleos Monastery, the same age as the Kretzulescu church and also a&nbsp;wonderful example of the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Br%C3%A2ncovenesc_art\">Br\u00e2ncovenesc<\/a>&nbsp;art.\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/travels\/eastern-europe\/romania\/2023-06-01-old-town\/1387.jpg\"><\/li>\n\n<li>The Zl\u0103tari (Goldsmiths\u2019) Church is a&nbsp;little rustic, but the tiled slopes on panel buildings (in the outskirts too) look quite&nbsp;nice.\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/travels\/eastern-europe\/romania\/2023-06-01-old-town\/1402.jpg\"><\/li>\n\n<li>Eclectic building (the whole city is like that, so&nbsp;what) of one of the oldest Romanian&nbsp;banks.\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/travels\/eastern-europe\/romania\/2023-06-01-old-town\/1396.jpg\"><\/li>\n\n<li>Famous <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/C%C4%83rture%C8%99ti_Carusel\">C\u0103rture\u0219ti<\/a> bookstore is a&nbsp;charming cultural space with an&nbsp;impressive department of English-language publications. \n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/travels\/eastern-europe\/romania\/2023-06-01-old-town\/1404.jpg\"><\/li>\n\n<li>Catholic Church of <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Bucharest_B%C4%83r%C4%83%C8%9Bia\">B\u0103r\u0103\u021bia<\/a> (Brotherhood) was built in 1629, but its first wooden version is 150&nbsp;years older than Bucharest itself.\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/travels\/eastern-europe\/romania\/2023-06-01-old-town\/1407.jpg\"><\/li>\n\n<li>A lady in the green hat looks around sadly (and in vain) in search of equal rights for men and&nbsp;women.\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/travels\/eastern-europe\/romania\/2023-06-01-old-town\/1409.jpg\"><\/li>\n\n<li>The Curtea Veche Church of St.&#8239;Anthony (1565) is the oldest in the capital. The&nbsp;hospodars of Wallachia were crowned here for two centuries.\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/travels\/eastern-europe\/romania\/2023-06-01-old-town\/1416.jpg\"><\/li>\n\n<li>The vast area of Bucharest fountains (they sing, dance and glow at night) with graceless panel buildings on the horizon.\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/travels\/eastern-europe\/romania\/2023-06-01-old-town\/1421.jpg\"><\/li>\n\n<li>Fancy windows slightly enliven the comfortless Trade Union Boulevard without a&nbsp;single&nbsp;bench.\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/travels\/eastern-europe\/romania\/2023-06-01-old-town\/1437.jpg\"><\/li>\n\n<li>The <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Palace_of_the_Parliament\">Ceau\u0219escu Palace<\/a> is the heaviest administrative building in the world. The standard of megalomania, insane luxury and bad&nbsp;taste.\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/travels\/eastern-europe\/romania\/2023-06-01-old-town\/1439.jpg\"><\/li>\n\n<li>Drama theatre named after the actress, teacher and translator <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Lucia_Sturdza-Bulandra\">Lucia Bulandra<\/a>, who headed it for 14&nbsp;years.\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/travels\/eastern-europe\/romania\/2023-06-01-old-town\/1442.jpg\"><\/li>\n\n<li>Incredibly cosy Ci\u0219migiu Gardens.\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/travels\/eastern-europe\/romania\/2023-06-01-old-town\/1456.jpg\"><\/li>\n\n<li>Here are the flowers.\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/travels\/eastern-europe\/romania\/2023-06-01-old-town\/1461.jpg\"><\/li>\n\n<li>Count Dracula and Bram Stoker relax from the heart.
